Executive producer Julie Plec is really happy with how Elena and Damon are handling the ‘universe’ trying to break them up. ‘I think the beautiful thing about Damon and Elena right now is in spite of what everyone is saying to them, whether it’s in the form of the universe or other people’s two cents about it, they’re like, ‘Hey, look, we know how we feel about each other and we’re going to stick to that. We’re not going to let some prophecy or whatever affect the way that we view our relationship,’ Plec says. ‘They’re going to have to fight pretty hard to keep that up, but they’re going to give it their best shot.’

‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5: What Will College Life Be Like For Elena, Caroline?

couldthisbetrue:

Elena and Caroline are getting the full college experience when “The Vampire Diaries” returns on October 3—or at least the full TV college experience. The Mystic Falls BFFs will move in together when they matriculate at Whitmore College in season five, which, as we’ve learned through many years of TV-watching, means parties, hot boys and inordinately large dorm rooms.

“Look, we can all joke about it, but in order for a scene to look good, you need a lot of space to shoot in—especially when you’re a show that shoots on long lenses,” executive producer Julie Plec admitted to Hollywood Crush recently. “So yes, our dorm room is a little bigger than the dorm room I had in college.”

But that doesn’t mean it’s not gonna be awesome. “We establish a university that’s old and steeped in tradition and it’s been around for a while, and the room reflects that. It’s got the big arched ceilings and a good, old-world feel to it. So you will laugh, because yes, of course it’s a little bit bigger than it should be, but we’re proud of it.”

Just in case that prolonged makeout session in The Vampire Diaries Season 4 finale wasn’t enough to convince you, executive producer Julie Plec would like you to know Elena (Nina Dobrev) has true feelings for Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

After discovering she was sired to Damon, the new vampire and the elder Salvatore were both confused about how she felt about him. In a recent interview with TVLine, Julie Plec explained the bond served as a way for Elena to get over Stefan (Paul Wesley) STAT, but it never meant her feelings for Damon weren’t real. “When we started talking about how to get Elena and Damon, truth be told, in bed together without having to wait a respectful 25 episodes of mourning the relationship between her and Stefan, we started to talk about different ways to escalate and over-heighten her emotions,” said Julie. “Lo and behold, the sire bond was born… For us as writers, it’s just a complication. Elena’s feelings are legitimate. They’ve been legitimately brewing for years. We have watched her bond with Damon escalate over four years.”

In fact, there’s been something between Elena and Damon since they met on the bridge before her parents’ deaths. “Even before anything happened in our series, Elena had been touched in her soul by this man,” Julie says of their clandestine meeting.
