Gavin DegrawNot Over You (x)

If you ask me how I’m doing I would say I’m doing just fine
I would lie and say that you’re not on my mind

While siblings of TVD were having heart-to-hearts with each other (Elijah & Rebekah, Rebekah & Klaus, Damon & Stefan) at the end of “All My Children” episode, Bonnie had to go through another heartbreak.

Bonnie had to go through a lot since season one. In season one Bonnie found out that she had magical abilities and soon after that she lost Grams, the only person who could guide her in the twisted witchy-voodoo world. In season two she had to put up with the fact that her best friend (meaning Caroline) is a vampire, she cast a spell on herself to imitate her very own death and tried to take down the creepiest vampwolf of all times and then lost her connection to the dead witches’ powers. In season three she had a relationship drama with Jeremy, had to clean the ghost mess and had a dramatic storyline with her mom. Until she was turned into a vampire.

Bonnie literally was left with no family when Grams passed away (her dad can hardly be called family). She found her mother and then they could bond. Bonnie could have a hope for having a family (read: have a mom once in her life). But no, Abby was turned. Without discussion.

The most awful thing about it is that Damon was the one to turn Abby. Damon was the protector of Bennett lineage. Basically he had to make sure that Bennett line of witches lives on; that was his deal with Emily. But Emily broke this deal, she betrayed Damon, so basically Damon doesn’t owe her anymore. Anyway, Bennett line lives on (in the form of Bonnie). However, it does seem really inappropriate that Damon was the one to feed Abby his blood and snap her neck. I’m not making excuses for Damon here.

Another terrible thing here is that Abby had to be turned so that Elena could live. Abby was turned because of Elena even though this connection is sideway. It can parallel with 1x14 where Elena actually makes Bonnie and Sheila let Damon and Stefan out and the spell they used caused Sheila’s death. Elena was somewhat the main reason it happened. She insisted on letting Damon get Katherine and on letting the Salvatores out. So, basically Bonnie lost two family members she cared about because of her best friend even though Elena didn’t know this would happen to Abby.

Don’t hate on Bonnie for not letting Elena in. I can’t even imagine what she must be feeling like.

“Somehow she’s always the one who gets hurt.”

When Caroline said that, I thought “Yeah, right, but Elena always tries hard to keep Bonnie out of it, especially in this season”. This time Bonnie signed up for it all by herself (well, Stefan insisted but Elena had no part or voice here).

I just feel like the history will repeat itself. Bonnie will stick to Caroline and abandon Elena because Elena is the reason all of it is happening. So, it’s better for Bonnie to stay away from Elena. Again. If this happens, then I don’t really get their “friendship”. Bonnie is seriously damaged now but accusing Elena is not an option, really.

When the episode started, the first thing that surprised me was Stefan. JOURNALING. He hasn’t done this for ages. Since he’s left town with Klaus, to be more specific about the time.

I really love that the Stefan we used to know in seasons one-two is coming back. I can’t say he’s really back, like done, for good. But Stefan is definitely on his way to getting back to his old self, even though he doesn’t want to admit it. He doesn’t want anyone to know that his humanity is coming back but he slowly turns to the better (by getting back to Stefan squirrel diet and not threatening people).

Actually, it was a pleasant surprise for me that Stefan stopped feeding on human blood after what he did to Elena in 3x11. I was certain that he didn’t mean the words he said back then and now we got some sort of a confirmation to this popular opinion.

Stefan’s journaling. He’s avoiding human blood. It becomes harder for him to ignore Elena’s calls. It becomes harder for him to pretend he doesn’t feel anything. Because he does.

Back to brooding, crowded foreheads and troubled minds. I guess I like this thoughtfulness about Stefan. Now it will be even more interesting to watch the dynamic within the love triangle (including Damon and Stefan’s relationship). It won’t be long until Stefan will give up pretending.

This whole plan on killing off all of the original vamps was pretty likely to fail as it usually happens on “The Vampire Diaries”, so “All My Children” episode was no exception.

Short recap: Momma Original sticks to her plan of killing her original babies and recruits Bennett witches. Elijah remains concerned and asks Elena to “accompany” him and finally finds out that his existence might come to an end any moment tonight. While he manipulates Elena’s “boyfriends”, the “evil blood slut” Rebekah threatens Elena and has a little chat with her. Then the Salvatores (who are “really pathetic when it comes to women”) make up a “diabolical master plan: the sequel” and pull off a dagger session with Kol by using Ric and Meredith. Original boys come (like a boss) and face Esther (who is not mother to them anymore as Elijah states later) while Damon and Stefan break the Bennett witchy duo by turning Abby. Ta da, the originals are saved, Esther and Finn (who looks like an average townie this time, what a transition) run away. The family breaks apart, once again. Elijah leaves a letter for Elena and leaves town, Kol leaves too and Klaus and Rebekah find out that there is a fatal white oak tree which can kill them. “It’s not over, Nik.”

It is so not over. But actually, it feels quite strange that all plans on getting rid of Klaus fail so soon.

  • Klaus is introduced in season two, we finally meet him in person in 2x19, then there is a plan to kill him in 2x21 and Elijah blows the plan in 2x21.
  • We find out about Mikael in 3x03, Katherine finds him in 3x05, Mikael wakes up in 3x06 and appears in 3x08. The actual plan on killing Klaus is only made up in 3x09 and then “the whole thing falls apart”.
  • Stefan gets the coffins in 3x09, Esther comes out in 3x13, she shares her plan with Elena in 3x14 and in 3x15 everything falls apart again.

All the plans had some little pre-history of getting to them but when it comes to the actual plan everything goes very and very fast.

Then again, Rebekah is smart enough and now she knows that there is a weapon that really can kill them all off for good. If Esther knows about it, she may attempt to find it and then she will kill Finn and his siblings will die as well due to being “linked as one”.

My predictions are:

  • Klaus and Rebekah reunite to find this deadly tree
  • Elijah comes back soon for some reason (either off his own accord or because Klaus and Rebekah need him “always and forever”)

It’s sad that Klaus wanted to reunite his family and it all ended up like this. He even bonded with Kol in this episode. It’s sad, really really sad. I just hope that the original trio (Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah) find happiness.
