E! Online has released the new TVD poster for this season’s finale “The Departed”.
What’s up with this rose? Firstly, I made this gifset to show that the rose in the poster can be somehow connected with Delena. Just like a little hint. Nothing specific, maybe. This may be telling us about love (as one of definitions of a red rose). Secondly, we should all pay attention to the color. The rose is half red and half black and white. The rose seems to be bleeding or dying which leads us to another definition: life. Or maybe sacrifice and blood. It seems as though blood is dripping off the rose down. Rose is the only colored fragment of the entire poster. Thirdly, where exactly did CW put the rose in the poster? This rose is situated on Nina’s cheek and its red part begins somewhere near Nina’s lips. And this may be a some kind of metaphor for Elena becoming a vampire or being at risk of turning in the finale.
What’s up with the tear? Tears are caused by different things. It can be either sadness or happiness. It can be inability of the soul to restrain its emotions and to handle things. It can be a cry of unspoken love. Probably Elena makes an important and a very difficult decision because of which she is forced to sacrifice something.
What the heck should “A FUTURE BLOOMS” mean? Usually the verb “bloom” has a positive meaning (“flourish”, “thrive”, “glow with warmth”), so it’s pretty much obvious that a positive future lies ahead for Elena. But what’s the catch, really? “Bloom” is usually applied to flowers (and here we have a symbol of true love/immortal love). In accordance with this, “A future blooms” may stand for “A new (true) love flourishes”. This is about the choice Elena makes in the finale. And if we are talking about “new” love, it is Damon and Elena.
